Derek Entesano
Hi all, Well the directors have signed off my 'study tour' to go to the DMVC in Boston this year:D Really looking forward to it and meeting a few of you guys there. So as well as going to Boston, I am going to go to New York and maybe a stopover in LA. Plan to be over your side of the pond for about a week and a half. Will be craming in a bit of architectural sight seeing, maybe a show on broadway, and whatever else people suggest is 'a must'. I head up the presentation unit in a 100+ architecture firm with 3 of us doing arch vis full time. We are looking at expanding our capabilities and the DMVC should give me a good idea of what people are doing. To make it worth the directors' investment they would like me to visit a few rendering firms and architecture firms to see how their visualisation departments work. I'd love to have a walkthrough your studio/office if anyone has some time to spare. Lunch is on me and a free jar of vegemite if you are game! jkletzien
you can keep the vegemite. But you are more than welcome to come through our studio. We're in Providence, RI a small city about 45 min out of Boston (by car/train) and in between there and NYC. Just let us know if and when you're gonna come through, and you can take our greetings back to friends in Brisbane.
Nils Norgren
I concur with Jon on the vegamite, we (Neoscape) are planning on having an open studio / Party on Tuesday afternoon, I can organize a more formal tour during or after the party. I have been thinking that it might be interesting to have both a studio party and a small tour, highlighting the editing rooms, server room / render farm, and some off some compositing, editing, and general 3d setup. I was thinking taking people who are interested and breaking them into groups of 7 to 10 and doing the tour. I welcome some ideas/input on this, Thanks -Nils
Derek Entesano
Hi Jon & Nils, that would be fantastic! Understand the vegemite thing though, acquired taste... Both of your firms are up the top of my 'favourites' list so I am very excited. Jon, I was planning on taking the train down to NY so Wed 14th May would be great for me if possible. I might stay Wednesday night in Providence so I can have a look around. I must admit I am very pleased the DMVC is in such a beautiful region of the US! Nils, the open studio/party sounds like a great idea. It is very encouraging when market leaders are willing to share and open their offices to others in the industry. Look forward to catching up with you all at the DMVC and will be in touch. Now to justify the trip to New York...
jkletzien
NYC is breathtaking to behold, especially coming in on the train from the North (sit on the right hand side of the train). Even if you have to pay for it yourself - Do it, especially if you don't think you'll get the chance again.
fourthand11
If you'd like to ride the American architectural firm roller coaster then hop on board the Payette Associates express. I'm a 3d Visualizer in a 200+ person firm just blocks away from the Westin and a block from Neo. We'd be delighted to meet you and show you around. Just had a look at your website and there are some lovely renders on there. 200+ is quite a big firm! A nice scope of work by the looks of it. There are definitely some different challenges being knit into an architecture firm and I look forward to discussing our different views on it. Seems like time is accelerating at the moment so I am sure May will be here before I know it!

Sorta feel like taking my time getting there so I can admire the scenery. Is there a historic steam train option?
Derek Entesano
A quick thanks to all those I visited and spoke with on my round to the other side of the planet trip! I must say that you were all very hospitable and helpful. I came back with quite a few ideas to help progress the level of what we do and services we provide. It was great to put a few faces to the names I regularly see on this forum.
SandmanNinja
Derek, That sounds like just an incredible journey! To view top ArchViz firms in the States... Did the girls like your Aussie Accent?
Derek Entesano
Yes Joel, it was amazing. To meet some of the top of your field and for them to be so helpful, well I couldnt have asked for more. As for the accent, yes the Aussie is quite warmly received, though never truly tested as I have a wife and 2 kids!
