hi all

i have a scene with red wall and metal chrome surface next to it, the problem is that the color bleeding from the red wall maks the metal part completly red also, i know the is a way in vray/max to reduce the impact of color bleeding to an object or material. does anyone knows how to do it ?

cheers

vray:Indirect illumination (GI) tab -> reduce Saturation (around 0.7 would be fine)

No way... this will affect the GI as a whole, not only the bleeding material. Actually, Chaos tells people not to mess with these settings in order to get a physically accurate result.

PS: People, we do have a VRay section in the forum. Let's use it, alright?

I have a similar problem, but in this case I am not sure what factor causing it. I have a building with horizontal metallic paneling, that is relatively reflective. The base color is off white, but the rendered result is rendering yellowish/tan. I'm using a vray sun, HDRI image, grass/sidewalk/asphalt as part of the surrounding enviroment. What can I do to 1. Override the problem material to not absorb bounce color, but still retain luminosity and 2. Find out what is influencing the color change. I guess my best bet for now is to throw an VrayOverrideMtl on my grass/curbs/asphalt/sidewalks with a neutral GI material over ride.

you could always dive into the world of LWF. acheiving correct color bleed is a large part of what it is about. ....but please don't ask for an explanation until you have thoroughly searched and read the threads in the forum on the issue.

nice tip Travis, but perhaps you should explain first what LWF stands for.

@ Thomas. welcome to the 3d world ;) , hope you can fix your problem.

edit: btw, there are several tutorials about bleeding colour with vray...just google a little.
