rmoore97
Is or has anyone else experienced problems with RPC's and MR when rendering night scenes? I'm using Max 9 with MR daylight system, with MR Physical Sky and everytime we render a night scene the RPC's either render red or lose thir maps - but if we render the same scene as a day scene they render fine. The other very wierd thing is that the first time you render the night scene in the file the RPC's work fine - but every time after they screw up, until you close Max and reopen. Any thoughts? Other then not using RPC's - which would be so nice - but unfortunately a necessary evil for the time being.
BrianKitts
I can't comment directly to MR, but my biggest suggestion whenever RPC's are "needed" is to render them in a seperate pass and comp in post. That way you have better control over their (awful) baked in lighting, and you don't waste precious memory with their RAM heavy maps.
Justin Hunt
Its an RPC, network, paths issue. Its is something that has been happening since year dot. Be sure to put the RPC's in the simplest path, in other words dont put them in sub folder in sub folder in subfolders JHV
WAcky
I used to get the red rpc's happening rarely and totally at random. It was wierd. It happened during the FG map generation stage and if i just re-rendered it seemed to just fix itself. I cant comment on the night/day deal though. rmoore97
I think that I solved it - kind of. I merged everything into a new file and the RPC's render fine, each and every time. Something must has gotten corrupted in the master file and was carried into the rest when we did a save as.
