sdavrella
Hi guys, I've downloaded this building to do some render and lighting testing - as I am learning - and I really would appreciate some help here, I would like to get as close as possible to a photograph. Right know, doesn't it look a bit "cartoonish"? The whole scene is done in C4D 10.5 and was rendered with VRay. Used Psun + Psky. Thanks!
WAcky
May i ask where you downloaded the model from? I'd really like to try some commercial sized rendering too.
sdavrella
WAcky, I'm sorry. To be really honest, someone send it to to me, he said he got it from the internet. I will ask him tomorrow (It's now 00:43 here in Brazil, you must be seeing the sun already!) and will post it ASAP. And what about the render, anything I could improve to get a more realistic look? sdavrella
Worked a bit more on the image. Added cars, trees, ficked the asphalt texture and got a few clouds (photoshop) to enhance the image a bit. But I still think it looks like plastic... Please, if anyone has some tips to help me in the right direction...
WAcky
Its looking pretty good. Im not too sure about the peach coloured reflection in the glass. Looks a bit odd. Perhaps add a large noise map to the bump channel of your glass to make the reflections a bit wavy and more realistic. Maybe create a more dynamic camera view by getting it closer to the building and having the building have a 'looming' look about it. One more thing might be to try and get a nice cityscape to put behind it. It might be hard to get it looking decent but i think it could really make it stand out amongst some other buildings. Seeing the sun already!? Its mid-afternoon! You're living in the past!
sdavrella
Thanks WAcky! Good morning!! I've already asked about where to find these buildings, as soon as I come to know I'll warn you. Thank you for your directions! I'm testing with the bump and looking for a nice cityscape. About the peach color: I really dont know where it came from, maybe its the reflection image I used - but I can't see any peach color in the original.. Guess I'll have to use PS to get rid of it. Soon I'll post the results.
sdavrella
WAcky: he downloads this stuff from eMule. Since I don't even know how to use eMule, I can only put you in this direction. Hope it helps. And I'm finishing the render considering your changes. Thank's a lot! Will post soon. Anyone has something more to teach? I really need some help and learning here... fourthand11
R U using the Pcamera? If not, I would. I'd also test a different sun location and camera location. And don't be afraid of photoshop.
sdavrella
R U using the Pcamera? If not, I would. I'd also test a different sun location and camera location. And don't be afraid of photoshop. Fourthand, thanks for your replay! I actually am using Pcamera. F=8, speed=45 and ISO 100. About the sun location: I have it at 11 o'clock (with sun tag) and thought about using this camera location because it's on a block corner. Can I ask you: what would you change exactly? I'm also posting the last render, with a few bump and reflections on the windows.
sdavrella
With thanks to Wacky and Fourthand, I am posting the beta image. Have changed the camera angel, sun, added some movement, trees, etc. A question for the pro's for CGArchitect: can I feel confortable to show this image as part of a portfolio? Thanks! taleequale
Hi, I think there is still too blue in the picture.. You should decrease the sky emitter.. put the sun behind the building.. and.. and decrease also the reflective channel.. Portfolio yes or not.. it's depend on the client, I think.. sdavrella
Taleequale, thanks for your tips. I'll try the settings you suggested and post them later. A guy at the firm for who I'm doing this image, sayd the attached image was perfect. I really think it can be done better.. Looks so.. computerized. What do you think? taleequale
most of the materials are too clean.. and there is, I think, a problem with roughness settings.. yes it's still to computerized..
sdavrella
taleequale, I can't agree more with you. I don't like this last image either - it is their style untill now, and wasn't made by me -, and thats why I want to present something different to them this week.. hope I can get the office building at a higher level, with the help of you guys! xeunox
your last image is lookin a lot better than the first one, too much blue i agree, the back ground works well, doesn't draw to much attention. i would suggest u use a phot filter in photoshop to warm it up a bit. also your plans can be more lush and add more color. Well done so far, as for portfolio you will have to ask your client, but id say with a bit more tweaking it will do well in a portfolio. nice work man
fourthand11
Its better. Could you try the sun location mentioned earlier and maybe push the camera in closer so those palm trees create a foreground. Right now theres not enough depth to the image. The glass is also a bit too reflective, even if it was mirrored glass it would have a certain darkness to it. sdavrella
Fourthand, I have made the changes you suggested. Sun position, pushed the camera closer and changed the glass transparency to nearly 20%. And did a few tweaks in PS, to take some of blue off... Hope you guys like it!! Thanks for all your help
fourthand11
how about having the sun angle from left to right so it hits the front of the building and keep the right side of the building in shadow. maybe get even closer. and how bout the glass reflection, still seems to mirror like. taleequale
how about having the sun angle from left to right so it hits the front of the building and keep the right side of the building in shadow... like Caravaggio.. this is the kind of illumination used by Caravaggio
sdavrella
well, actually.. thats where the sun was in the other images.. :/ and thats why the plants in the back looked a bit dark. but maybe, now with a bit more transparency of the windows, it gets better. Will post soon! Thanks for all your help.. really!
