Ray1618
hello, I've made a 3d model and now I'm buzzy on the mapping, but I got a problem with the bricks. It seams to be really repeating it self over and over again, anyone got a good way to prevent this from happening?!? This is how it looks like right now
STRAT
there is only one solution for brick mapping. use an on-line masonary designer - http://www.beldenbrick.com/md_page.htm
Ray1618
Thnx man. Hmm that kinda sucks I hoped for some good randomized 3dmax alternative:(
Mechadus
You could probably get something like a random brick pattern by using the tiles map with some image maps inside it.. never actually tried it tho. Usually I just make larger image maps with more bricks to avoid the tiling problem.
STRAT
Thnx man. Hmm that kinda sucks I hoped for some good randomized 3dmax alternative:( the masonary designers give photoreal huge non-tiling brick maps. 100's of bricks squared if you want. It's a lot more real than what max can produce, and certainly doesn't suck i can assure you. since the advent of these brick designers the question of 'how do i do bricks?' has been obsolete for ages. I usually make maps in PS accordingly to what I need. Dont rely on Max entirely to do the seamless maps for you

EricMLevy
I have an answer to your question! In your tile map, change two parameters: In the Tiles Setup, multiply Horiz and Vert count by 4. Then in the Tiling Section (under coordinates rollout) multiply your tiling by 4. If it's still too repetitive, mutiply by 2, 3, 4, whatever it takes... Did I explain that well enough? alrawli
Thats a great link thanks for sharing! That could have come in really usefull recently! Ive been using Bricks and Tiles which is good if you have photographs of the type of brick/stone your needing to map and saves on the Photoshop time, can be a pain in the neck having to make lots of textures.
