Quick reception area

Recommended Posts

Just a quick reception area to see how the space looks. No materials yet a the guy is off sick..

Anyway, vraysun / sky and physical camera.. thats all.

Reinhard at multiplier 1.1, burn at 0.5, and gamma 2.2. LWF

The scene looking at the main entrance is overblown... not sure how to change this so I could get a good mix between internal and external light etc..

Anyhow....

I've actually never been successful at using the vray physical camera, Vray Sun/Sky and getting a good exposure that shows the interior and exterior light with one render. I've always experienced the overblown exterior that you're getting too.

I've ended up just turning off exposure with the camera and toning the sun intensity down to .01-.008. This does a good job of allowing the outside and inside to be equally lit.

if interested, here's an image I did using this method (notice off to the left outside the window is completely exterior) - http://mike.downtown.googlepages.com/MichaelBrown_300_17th.jpg/MichaelBrown_300_17th-full;init:.jpg

looks good so far, good luck.

Cheers Michael,

That image works doesnt it.. I suppose the problem with trying to expose correctly a physical camera, for internal and external light is a very difficult thing to do, in real terms..

Its trying to get the right amount of light inside without adding a load of extra lights, unless you tone it down like you have. Trying to get away from using vray lights over the windows..!

Maybe thats the best way to go, with a high f-stop on your camera..

hey Andy.

i'd reduce the sun intensity, add vrayplanes at the windows with 20 sbd to avoid noise ...and play with the gama only when u got the final textures to be used.

remember that the physical cam (when using it with exposure) has a shooter speed control and ISO, if you want to ligth the room only with the vray sun....play with it.

dunno your starting vraysun intensity, but I beleive it's not a difficult to find a good lumination in this particular escene.

Hey Eric,

Yep, you mean the f-stop..? What I was trying was to keep everything as simple as possible, ie no extra planes, sun intensity 1, so it acts as close to the real sun. I am playing with another scene at the moment, trying to get the intensities right.

It will eventually be a compromise thou I think, between real world and a little bit of cheating with the planes..:D
