SgWRX
hi, are there any "gotcha's" or anything to watch out for if buying a model from turbosquid etc.? once you get them, you can break them apart and texture as needed? thanks steve
Horhe
I havent bought an actual model from TS but I presume that they are good to go. All the descriptions are below the model or component you intend on buying; the formats its available in, poly count etc. etc. If your missing some details about your intended purchase then try and contact either the person that produced that very model or Turbo Squid itself. I would think that the models are collapsed to editable mesh or poly and perpahps connetcted all toghether into one mesh. You could always try and donwload something free (or buy smth very cheap) from their site and try it out. I imagine the other products could be the same. Devin Johnston
Many of their models are single meshes with multi sub object materials so breaking them apart can be difficult, it depends on what you’re buying.
Claudio Branch
...any "gotcha's" or anything to watch out for if buying a model from turbosquid etc.? I have had mixed luck with TS models. Some good, some not so much... Rarely have I purchased something without having to tweek some of the modeling work or texture assignments. I find it most useful when time is really short on a project. After all, modeling is fun. Why pay someone else to do it... ...?
SgWRX
well, i purchased a single family home from someone called savitch. it was $30US. not bad. seems to be what i needed - a developer showed me some plans for a house and a duplex, but no autocad files. he wanted me to make something up. i am NOT good with scale and dimensions. learning as i go though, so at some point i might be able to make up a complete building but definitely not now.
