AJLynn
I'm running the 8800GTS in Max2008 (I also used it in Max9) with DirectX and it is smokin' fast. There are a lot of people here using various 8800 cards. The GT is faster than the GTS so you should be good.

P.R.S. Sivakumar .
Yes, I have XFX Geforce 8800 GT Alpha Dog Edition - 512 MB RAM. Very happy with it. Yes, It can handle large polycounts - tested it in Max 9 Trial version. I mainly use SketchUP though. In Max, do not however expect to have antialiased viewport images - which seem to work only with Maxtreme drivers which cannot be used with Geforce. (It is meant for Quadro FX cards). Hope this helps With best regards PRSS

AJLynn
Special Max video driver plugin for Quadros only. I guess it doesn't work in Max08? It does improve performance somewhat but you have to pay for the Quadro so for most peopel it's not worth it.
AJLynn
Yes, but not with 100% efficiency - you'd see a speed increase but it wouldn't double. It's still more for gamers than pros. And don't get hung up on the amount of memory - the high amounts are for the lage amount of textures used in games, it has much less impact on performance in Max.
