Koper
I saw a script that a guy once used to populate a whole neighbourhood of houses. He modelled about 5 houses with their gardens and a piece of street, then ran the script. a whole city was created with those 5 blocks and they were placed randomly and their edges lined up perfectly does anyone know of that a script? postite
Perhaps you could do that with Greeble for 3ds. It's not a script but a plugin.
Koper
thanx, but greeble ain't gonna work, I have modelled 20 high detailed special bricks and need to populate them over many planes randomly with the edges lined up exactly. i have now created a very big displacement map and it looks like it just might work. but i still wanna know what the guy used thanx
SandmanNinja
I can think of a couple different ways to do it. 1) there is a Placement Script at http://www.3d-palace.com - that will allow you to take an object as a master and 'paint' with it - either like a brush or by carefully clicking. It's pretty cool. 2) use particles to spray the area with your detailed shape. There is (another) tutorial at http://www.3d-palace.com that uses this (Master Seminar 2007) - the download price is (I think) 20 Pounds. The author details a nice section of a hanger and using the particle system sprays it so that it covers a big area.
