Dave Buckley
Using the daylight system for an interior along with sky portals, FG and p/graphic exposure. all is fine . . . for now. However i have some problems, i want to do some volumetric lighting without changing my light setup and i want it to affect the light near the window only. i also wanted some softer shadows, i see there is a setting for this in the daylight sytem rollout but what is a good value, i've tried 5 with samples set to 64 yet the shadows from the window didn't seem to change oh also the transparency setting on the sky portals is an absolute gem. Such a neat little trick, and if you aren't sure what i'm talking about then ask and i will post some pictures up demonstrating the value of the transparency setting (thanks to Zap for the tip)
Macer
Have you tried using the glare camera shader for your lighting affect? Just drop it in the camera shader output slot under camera effects in the renderer tab. The help files state how to adjust it. Not sure on how to soften sun shadows though, I will have to keep an eye on responses...
Justin Hunt
to soften the sun shadows up the sun softness setting, default is 1 , 2 is quite soft, so be subtle. you will have to up the shadow sames as the softer the shadow gets the noisier to gots too. Inversly to sharpen the sun shadows drop the softness value jhv
mattclinch
i've tried 5 with samples set to 64 yet the shadows from the window didn't seem to change this seems very high. check your scene scale. usually 2 or 3 is very high. i use about 4 for very soft moonlight. 64 samples for shadows? i don't think i've ever gone higher than 32. might be a tad overkill there.
