STRAT
i can only answer from a c4d point of view. first and obvious reply is to make sure your mesh is good and modelled properly. no gaps, overlaps, push-throughs etc etc. a nice clean model. second, what lights you using? areas? portals? infinites/spots/omnis etc etc? the shadow settings on those are important. (make sure they vray lights too). looks like portals. personally i'd put an infinite light in as the sun with a tight area shadow. your background image looks like its on a plain close to the glass too. this is wrong. and as far as your gi settings are concerned i'd change a few settings to - min -3 max -1 (or 0) hsph 75 or more inters 25 disthresh .
Billabong
I'm no where a vray expert, but from what I see you neeed to make sure your two vray light planes in your windows have sky portal checked. You don't need no where near the many Hsub divisions, your image samplings is to low, maybe take it to around 2/5, I would also change my secondary bounce to Light Cache. Like I said I'm no expert and I could be wrong, but try those changes. Taking down your HSubs to around 20 to start out with and just raise them a little at a time but from what ive learned you dont want to take them above 50. It will kill your rendering time. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can give you more insight. edit: Strat beat me to it Good luck

chuck
I'd start with changing the quality of your Irradiance map from low to med or even high, with sudivs @50,20. I never need to go above these values. You can do a quick region render of that area to see if that solves it. To me it looks like the standard vray low quality "light leak". STRAT
looking much nicer. this give the impression of the shop on a sunday during the daytime when it's all closed and no ones there is this the feel you're after? why not give it another 'fee' ? like day time with the lights on, or evening/night time? etc etc. all good lighting practice. as for the technicalities, your gi/area shad samples make the image look blotchy/grainy. Personally, i'd stay well clear of portal lights. you really need to understand them properly before you use them. understanding them properly will give you a proper feeling for how to 'use' the samples and how to speed them up. as i say, i'd use an infinite or parallel light for the main sun. failing this, (if you dont have a sun) general background or environmental or skydome gi will suffice. More conventional lighting will stop that light leaking under the cills and give a cleaner image. I really would personally back away from portals. Those 2 big white BABOR posters on the wall - what material is this? only it's giving a false impression. If it's a reflective glass then make it look so. if they're back lit panels then again, make them look like it. at the moment they're trying to be something i cant figure out what. Your glass boxes needs the specularity looking at. how about some refraction and reflection on them? The outside background image looks like it's pasted onto boards just outside the windows. and again, it's lighting doesn't quite match the lighting coming into your room. And how about that floor? there's scope in there to really make a nice feature of it. at the moment it's a bit indistinct. nice reflection, but no definition. why not make it look like a beautiful authentic wooden floor? Anyway, all coming along real nice mate
