geardaddy1
HELP! Isn't Brute Force supposed to keep the noise in the same place? I am noticing alot of flashing in my animations lately. I am not sure if this is due to a new 64-bit RENDERBOXX I just added to my farm, or if I am just dumb in VRAY. If you take a look at the 3 test frames below, you will notice the noise pattern is different in all three frames, each from a sepereate 64-bit computer on the farm. What is going on??@?@? Settings are brute force VRAY 1.5 Max 9.2.
Devin Johnston
Unless your using brute force for both primary and secondary bounces you will need to pre calculate your light map for the animation your trying to render. When you don't do this you get flickering and noise.
geardaddy1
Yes, thanks Maxer, I am using it for both. That is why it is frusterating.
Crazy Homeless Guy
I don't know the technical terms, and I am not 100% positive, but this looks like noise that is created by other factors, and not the GI engine. Maybe play with your DMC Sampler settings to refine the detail. Maybe lower the noise threshold, or change the adaptive amount. Just a guess. I also fear the simplicity of this scene implies that you are doing test renderings to find the best results which can then be applied to other scenes. If this is the case, I would be cautious, because you will probably end up using settings that are to high for detailed scenes, at least to high if you want images to finish in a reasonable amount of time. CRD
Are you worried about the noise being present at all, or that it is random from frame to frame? In the DMC Sampler there is a check box lableled Time Independant. When checked, the noise is unique each frame, when un-checked, the noise is the same between frames. But most people view having the noise not being random in an animation as undesirable as it looks like a post effect. Render a short sequence with it checked and unchecked to see what happens. If you are concerned with noise being present and you want tips on making the image totally smooth, then post your settings for gi, image sampling, and DMC sampler.
