leoviale Posted March 20, 2008 Share Posted March 20, 2008 Hi, my name is Leonardo, im glad to be part of this comunity, where such great people like Christopher Nichols and so many other for sure. I have come questions about setting up vray for some animation. I have to make 7200 frames for a job, for some Steel Minera Proccessing Plant, almost all animation is fly through cameras, but there r many objects moving arround, like caterpillars, trucks, smoke, a big cylinder oven that rotates in its own edge. I have 6 cpu to make the animation in less than a month. I'm trying with Irradiance map / Light Cache in medium presset setup, but im getting sime flickering in some frames, specially in some interior cameras. 90% of the animation is exterior scenes, and didn't know how to set up correctly so i don't get those flickering and get a fast frame rendering. I work with a dual core FX-60 2.6 Ghz, 2 GB ram, 768 x 576 px is rendered in 30 min to 1 hr (complex frames). The other cpus r athlon X2 2.0 Ghz, and the render times r from 45 min ~ 2 hr aprox. BrianKitts Posted March 21, 2008 Share Posted March 21, 2008 For the amount of CPU power that you currently have if you started now, you might get it done in time..... if you didn't get make and mistakes and don't have to rerender anything..... I would seriously consider using a renderfarm such as respower.com to crank out your renderings. Are you precalculating your irradiance maps? Also if you have moving object you definately should be looking into the new animation irradiance maps for moving objects. which you didn't mention if you are using them... landrvr1 Posted March 21, 2008 Share Posted March 21, 2008 For animations with moving objects using IR and LC (which is what I use), you're going to need to kick that preset up to at least the high setting. Possibly the highest. I nearly always get flickering in low and mid. 7200 frames with only 6 cpu with about 45min frametimes???!!! Hmm. 6 dual core CPUs 7200 x 45min frame time = 324,000min 324,000 / 60 = 5400hrs 5400hrs / 24 = 225 days 225days / 12 cores = 18.75 days Then editing, music, titles, other post-P stuff.... Well, im using Irradiance Map with Multiframe Incremental and LC, Scale World in 0.1 cm, 4 passes 500 subdiv, prefilter in 10, Neares Filter with Interp. frames 32 and Fly-Trough mode.
