shikodesign2000
Hi, I don't know how to create this high quality rug?? can anyone tell me the settings or map of vraydisplacement modifier, or any other way??
moodo
i think you can try vray fur. diplacement isn´t the correct matter therefore because displacement go only up and can not be inflected.
magnuscarta
I use instanced geometry and scatter to build rugs like this - much faster thant fur
Joel182
Hi I would have to say it depends on the shot, if you are realy close up I would strongly recomend using fur as this is the closest to the real thing. I would have to agree with moodo and say stay away from the displacement option on close/medium shots and only use this if the rug is at a distance, because I've seen far too many nice renders spoiled by the most dangerously sharp looking rugs The scattering a piece of geometry option is also a good approach though I would use this for medium shots. But the real power behind Rugs and such objects is the texturing. The reason fur looks the best is because the way the light scatters through the fur and reflects off the texture of each individual strand. So if fur is not an option I would spend some time nailing the texture. hope this helps Joel
