Hello guys,

I have been a member here for some time but have not really posted so first of all, hello! Currently working on a kitchen for my portfolio. Inspiration taken from various sites / photos. Crits and comments more than welcome!

This is a mental ray rendering - I may consider other options for the final.

Thanks

James

Hi James! Good start...personally, I'd remove the shelf that's above the sink and replace it with high level cupboards as that'd be a lot more functional in a kitchen. Having said that, you'd typically find that a sink is usually placed close to a window, so I'm not sure if you'd want to go down that route? Maybe add some taps and some tiles on the wall for the 'splash back'.

Also, I'd place the camera a bit higher up...roughly 1.6-1.8m above the floor, unless you want to go for a 'stylized' look.

you composition feels very restrictive, like its a crop from a much bigger image.

my brain wants to see more top and bottom, to give me a better sense of scale and open space. it needs a foreground element, and i want to see over to the right to a nice light area where all that sunlight is pouring in - i suggest with a table in the bottom right to act as the previously mentioned foreground element. think about your vanishing points and the strong composition lines they create.

flos arco lamp is not really a kitchen piece of furniture either, i think it may look a tad out of place.

stick with mental ray. tis best.
