portisgreg
Hi! Can anyone give me an idea of how to create this canopy in 3dsmax please? I assume its using Nurbs but i'm open to any other suggestions. Thanks Greg
notamondayfan
personally my way would be to avoid nurbs. i would- -draw plane in top view -edit poly, move verts to shape (still in top view) -keep your polys 4 sided -tesselate -use ffd's to manipulate the height of the corners. -shell modifier -done
Claudio Branch
Can anyone give me an idea of how to create this canopy in 3dsmax please? Take a look at a later post in this forum titled "help im stuck"...basically the same problem you are having is discussed there with a couple of different approaches you can try out. gordo3di
personally my way would be to avoid nurbs. i would- -draw plane in top view -edit poly, move verts to shape (still in top view) -keep your polys 4 sided -tesselate -use ffd's to manipulate the height of the corners. -shell modifier -done I did a similar thing by sub dividing a plane and using edit poly with soft selection on.. The ffd modifier is nice though since you can keep the original geometry but with sofft selections you can play with the falloff in interesting ways. Avoid nurbs and cloth to save you a headache IMHO Made this years ago using that technique http://www.3digraphics.com/gallery/uploads/design_final(4).jpg
