fallen513
Hello, I'm not sure if this is the proper forum or not but I have quite an issue on my hands. My company uses Autodesk VIZ (I know this is the Max forum ) and is having trouble with consistency. We do 100% interior rendering, currently using photometric lighting ( I believe we are using web lighting incorrectly) & radiosity, as well as "architectural" materials. I have so many questions I really don't know where to begin. We have 10 designers or so and the color of our materials is varying from person to person due to slightly different techniques being used. I guess I'll start with: Is there a standard (using VIZ & Radiosity) setup for interior lighting? What makes our case especially difficult is that even though our rooms are typically small (120" square?) they consist of numerically complex models as can be seen below: What I mean by numericaly complex is that the model, though an editable poly, consists of thousands of beveled rails, components & so on that "trap light". The picture above shows a dark material applied to both the walls & the racking. Based on what you see, is there a good place to start on lighting this correctly? Thanks in advance! S. fallen513
Here is a cellar that I rendered myself, using my own techniques: I am still not happy with this. This was done as above, using photometric freepoints, linear lights & radiosity. I have explored using Mental Ray as well but due to the learning curve I would love to have my designers stick with what they are used to, just slightly modify their process.
