STRAT
checking past drawing history is limited. try typing in dwgprops at the command line, or time maybe.
rmoore97
Not sure if this is a standard autocad thing or a custom thing here at the office, but check in the folder that the drawings are in for a folder called docinfo, inside that folder should be a file called DwgHistories.txt. This file shows every time a drawing has been saved and who and when it was saved.
mskin
this place is adament about everyone using the same passwords for email and computer log in. i have heard of people checking other peoples emails with out thier knowledge. the latest is that last night and over the past few months, somebody has been scaling someone elses drawings. SandmanNinja
Sounds like you have deeper issues if the IT guys don't give a rat's a$$ about network security
mskin
Its unbelievable. The underlying theory is that what lives on the companies computers belongs to the company. Therefore, the IT administrator wants everyone to have the same password… “welcome” if you can believe it. So that if someone is out, there email is accessible for what-ever reason. I have always argued against this… not the companies ownership issue, but that fact that leaving a machine unguarded opens people up to such personal attacks. One guy has completely sabotaging another guys work. The guy whos work has beenn sabatoged has had egg all over his face for months. Hes a real “design” guy who knew absolutely nothing about cad, and has made such a strong effort to contribute by learning it. Meanwhile some other guy who is jealous of the design opportunities the other guy got sneaks onto his computer after everyone leaves and scales the entire drawing down 99.5 percent of the original size. Meanwhile, the guy who’s work is being messed with looks like a complete fool because supposedly he can’t figure out how to insert an x-reference. He brought work home on his jump drive last night and compared the files to the server files and they were completely different. The fact that drawings were saved two hours after the guy who was working on them left the office. The fact that his event log shows him powering down at 4:30, than back up and logging on at 6:30 to 6:50 (while he wasn’t there) and his drawings being saved last at 6:50. meanwhile, a search of files modified on the server shows only one other project having a modified time around then at 6:53 – and only one guy in the office at the time (its almost a smoking gun). The partners refuse to take action or look into the matter any further. It’s a pretty messed up situation in my opinion. thanks by the way.... dwgprops proved to be useful for identifying other users loggin on at the time. Hazdaz
WOW, that's some juicy info right there... and quite messed up at that. I do find it utterly pathetic though, that the partners don't seem to want to do anything about it. Got any webcams that you can hoookup and let record overnight? John Dollus
I can believe this in a university computer lab but in a professional office?! forget passwords - you guys need to run psychological screening on employees. I really detest lawyers but your designer should probably talk to one. There are very real and tangible damages involved with the extra time and billings being passed onto the clients for that jokers behavior. you said this has been going on for months?
