Does ANYONE have a clue as to how you delete a block/style parent?

I imported some stuff from AutoCAD for a project, and two parents came with. I've tried editing in schematic view, etc with no results.

This is absolutely driving me bonkers. BONKERS!

before you import your drawing explode everything right down and then purge your scene (file > drawing utilities > purge).

in max i think the blocks link to pieces of geometry or splines and deleting them usually takes the associated geometry with it. If you convert all geometry to edit polys or editable splines it usually lets you delete them.

Hmm. No luck guys. Thanks though. Selecting the child and delete leaves the parent. Can't delete the parent, but I can move it (and the child follows).

Weird.

I just copied all the other info in the drawing and did a Save Selected to a new file.

Still, would love to know how to delete those buggers.

Same problem here.

Have to get rid of the Block/Style links. Tried the script. run script -> assign to hotkey -> press hotkey -> nothing happens. Block/Style parent (Object) still show up in schematic view. max 2008.

  • 7 months later...

is this just for 2D dwg files or does it work with 3D dwg file too.

jhv

Just tested, crapped out on a large file (3000+ ADT objects) and worked great on a smaller file (300 adt objects)

Just trying again on the larger file

its a macroscript, so you have to run it, then customize toolbar, and find the script from that menu.. the catagory is: CAD cleanup

THANKYOU so much for that script and help on how to use it...... i can now delete "parent block style objects" without disturbing my max scene geometry..... thanks again friend.
