Tim Saunders
Has anyone else had problems with VrayEdges Tex working on proxy objects? Is there a work-around?
Chad Warner
I haven't had issues with it (at least not with just trying it) but what about Vray toon?
Tim Saunders
Doesn't work. It might if one proxy had one material, but all my proxies have an MSO Mat with several subobject mats. Try creating an object (or several objects to form one main object) for instance, I created a chair with 3 materials; 1- fabric, 2- leather, 3- chrome. the leather has the edgeTex in the bump and renders just great when it isn't a proxy. But once I create the proxu, poof-there goes my edge tex. See the attached images. The first one is before I created the proxy, the second is after. Notice the same material is on the zig-zag piece and the edge works great.
Chad Warner
OK, that's interesting. If you copy the exact same edgetex into the diffuse slot, it shows up exactly like the original object, but when it's only in the bump slot like you have, it doesn't work on the proxy. So I guess I do have the same problem.
Tim Saunders
Why would you ever have the edges Tex in the diffuse slot?
Chad Warner
Diagrammatic stuff
Tim Saunders
So puting it int he diffuse doesn't fix the problem does it?
Chad Warner
No, sorry. I didn't mean to imply that it did....it's just that if the same edgetex is put in the diffuse slot, it works like you'd expect, in both the original and the proxy.
Tim Saunders
Thanks Chad. I got this reply form Vlado. I thought i would share it. It will not work on proxies for now; this is because when used as a bump map, VRayEdgesTex needs information for the entire mesh - obviously this is not possible with a proxy. Best regards, Vlado
