AJLynn
Photoshop doesn't get much use out of multiple cores. Neither do a lot of video apps. Maybe you can be more specific about which video editing apps you use and what you do with them? The Precision would only be better under two conditions: -You are talking about a configuration with two Xeon quad core chips AND -The software you use is very good at multithreading. Otherwise you're just spending too much, and the first option will actually be faster. Not knowing more, I can still say with 80% certainty that you want #1. The only thing is, I've used an ATI 2600XT and it's got more than its share of glitches in OpenGL. Is there an option with a Geforce card instead? Edit: Oh, duh, #2 does not have a DVD burner??? DVD burners cost less than $40 these days, and they must be considered a requirement in a video editing workstation.
douglaslopezt
Thanks for answer me. I will use Premiere Pro CS3, photoshop, some games, audio Editing and virtual machines software. But the priority is video and design software (photoshop, illustrator, indesign) So i like to play games like, call of duty, need for speed, unreal tournament, But for my budget I can't incline to the games. The system is preconfigured and only have two options and both are ATI: ATI Radeon HD 2430 PRO 128MB Radeon ATI HD 2600 XT 256MB On the other hand I have a nvidia geforce 6200 with turbocache, you think that it could replace it? i mean for compatibility? i be able to increase the card in the future? Option #2 dosn't have DVD burner because i have two and i don't want to pay for another, but in the option this 1 included in the price. So. The two option is the same price:$1,229 Regards
AJLynn
Go with #1 with the 2600. The 2GHz single CPU Xeon is slower than the 2.4GHz C2Q.

Slinger
Actually the Xeon will be faster based on it having more cache and a higher FSB. 400mhz is not a big difference....however, both of those systems are in need of some serious ram upgrades if you plan to run Photoshop and such. If your budget is $1200 and you want a pre-built, I'd go with this one: http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&oc=DXCWQJ2&s=dhs My Components Intel® Core™2 Q6600 Quad-Core (8MB L2 cache,2.4GHz,1066FSB) Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium with Digital Cable Support 3GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 4 DIMMs 500GB - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache Single Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability No Monitor ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO 128MB Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio Dell USB Keyboard Dell Optical USB Mouse No Floppy Drive or Media Reader Included 56K PCI Data Fax Modem My Software & Accessories No speakers (Speakers are required to hear audio from your system) Adobe Elements Studio for XPS™ 420 Trend Micro Internet Security 15-months Microsoft® Office Home and Student 2007 My Service 1Yr In-Home Service, Parts + Labor,24x7 Phone Support Included 3 GB DataSafe Online Backup for 1Yr No ISP requested Also Includes Windows Vista™ Premium Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 8.1 Dimension XPS, Specialized Support No Entertainment software pre-installed Only thing worth upgrading out-of-the-ox is the gfxcard....ATI drivers just suck
