Glass not letting light through

I have a small room with a window...and in the larger room my camera is amied at window w/ glass. I have a vray sphere light in the small room. While tweaking the small light and taking test renders all of the sudden the glass insnt transparent anymore. But I can clearly see the glass mat transparent in my viewport.

I was doing test renders w/ no GI. Ive checked every setting I can. I hid the glass objects...a double pane with a 1' space between them....and then I can see light so its something wth my glass object.

Im MIFFED!! and thoughts? thanks so much, AG

I've had this same problem before in some of my models. I have no idea what causes it to happen in some and not others. The solution is to change your material to a standard and the put a Vraymap in your relfection and refration/opacity slots with settings on the vraymap set accordingly (either reflect or refract)

Hope this helps

Hi

If you're using the Vray Material, under the Refraction section

Check affect shadows and you should have direct light spilling

in now.

( if I've understood you'r question ) If not let me know! :)

Hope this helps

Do I need to check 'affect shaodws' ?

just kidding

thanks guys. Yes affect shadows was checked and it WAS part of a multi sub object mat...I was using the glass mat from the evermotion interoir 3..a bathroom with rocks and glass.

Ive since removed it from multi sub and I am now getting it to work. Funny...it comes and goes. I have a big scene with over a million polys...my refresh is fine,,,but Im wondering if I have poly erros in my models....because IES lights were givng me the weird 'shards' of shadows.

Ill try to get some pis up today. Ive found as my scene has grown Ive had a few issues appear.

thanks guys
