Dabbsy
Hello everyone, I am hoping youmay be able to help me. I am fairly new to this game so I apologise if I am not making 100% sense. Basically I am trying to create a coursed block paving texture that follows a curved road. I created the object by using a sweep modifier on a shape that follows the road. I have then used a uvw xform and applied the material. A close up the render from above the material seems to look ok, but as soon as i change the angle the material looks blurred. The jpeg quality is high and should not be an issue. Any ideas? Images attached Cheers Dabbsy
mattclinch
thats an aliasing issue. what renderer are you using?

Matt Clementson
Try changing the filter type or the blur amount in the bitmap settings.

STRAT
sorry if this sound rediculous but how do I turn on texture super sampling on in vray lol, yup, sorry my mistake. vray materials dont supersample. in cinema vray i'd add a touch of bump or/and, as Matt says, change the material filter to something sharp and vivid. michelchoueri
the catmul rom filter is the charpest one the solution for this is to use the opacite of your maping in the bump
Mechadus
Ive been having a similar problem with pavers at certain angles. I recently found that using a Normal Bump in addition to a regular bump map makes a big difference (provided your pavers are slightly glossy anyway). Here is a link to a handy photoshop normal map filter: http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html -Nick
Dabbsy
Just to show the development of this model. I had resolved the initial issue of the lofted material by using a different image for the bitmap. No idea why it work and the other didn't as they were of a similar quality but hey if it work it works. Comments would be much appreciated.
