Our server rack is e5400 series. I just need to be educated, what's the different between x and e series for xeon? AJLynn Posted April 2, 2008 Share Posted April 2, 2008 It's not a question of Intel making a CPU for a rackmount - the rackmountability is a function of the computer as built by the vendor (e.g., it's Dell/Boxx/HP/etc.'s responsibility to make a rackmount configuration, not Intel's). So you need to ask your server hardware vendor what they can supply. AFAIK Boxx and some others can supply dual quad Xeons in 1U rackmount chassis.
