lyca
Hi all I'm curious about Houdini 3D, anyone knows how good it is compared to Maya or 3DS Max ? i'd like to know if someone has experience with in visualization.
John Dollus
it's a bit like comparing a motorcycle to a car. They both have wheels and engines but serve different purposes. It's more a question of what specific problem you are trying to tackle than how 'good' it is.
manta
Houdini has a particle system 2nd to none, and a great render engine called mantra...
Sketchrender
If your talking about for viz work, I would have one thing to say, a user base , who will answer your questions when your in trouble. This the reason i stopped using softimage. Go with the industry standard, and that is being developed for the viz industry. phil
manta
Houdini is used by movie studios usually in the special effects department, you could use it for anything you want, but I don't think it would be practical for Arch/ Viz...but that's not to say you can't...its is of coarse "the artist not the tool"...
