shikodesign2000
Hi, I'm thinking now in buying a (workstation) to work with instead of my pc, the main reason ofcourse is to make my renders in little time, and to be able to make high quality animations. I need some basic information, I heared from my friends that it can make a hard scene render that can take in natural pc about 2 hours, in 3 or 4 minutes, so it's super pc. Just want to know what's the best specifications?? and can I use it instead of my pc??
AJLynn
No, the improvements aren't as great as that. The main adantage is that a workstation usually has a dual Xeon motherboard, you can hae 8 cores instead of the 2 or 4 that are standard in a desktop. So 2x or 4x speed, depending on the speed in GHz of the CPUs. Also, a workstation MB might have a larger maximum RAM size. These dual Xeons are quite expensive so a lot of us are making do with a Core 2 Quad.
