Ernest Burden III
I'm in the process of moving my studio to NYC, and building a new creative team to work with me there. Acme Digital is expanding and joining forces with another studio. I'm really excited. While we are not ready to make an announcement, we thought it would be a good time to start people thinking about up-coming opportunities to join our team. Look! I made a job posting! http://www.cgarchitect.com/jobs/job_details.php?query_string=b3a78199b6af866b52718ab5b89a7ea3b1 Yea! I will refine what we are looking for in applicants soon, but for now we're just hoping to see who is interested in a new arch-vis adventure. We will be open to a variety of experience and skill levels and areas of expertise, but also we will need top-level artists. This is like a pre-boarding call, so if you are traveling with small children or bought a first-class ticket, feel free to step up to the gate. I apologize for the lack of detail. I'm just excited to put all the pieces in place, and the most important piece is the artists who will make the studio a success.
Chad Warner
Exciting news Ernest! Something tells me you'll get a lot of applicants.
AJLynn
Congratulation, Ernest! this sounds very exciting. I'd be sorely tempted if I still lived there. I hope I'll have the opportunity to be a SuperAcme client some time

Ernest Burden III
Great news Ernest. i'd love to come work with you. but i cant Oh, come on, I'm nice. Just get a monthly pass on VirginAir. It's a long commute but not as bad as Tanvir's going to have. Kidding aside, the issue of people not being able to cross international borders to work where they want and where they are wanted is a big problem in our industry, like so many others. Its a shame, but a reality in many countries. As I said in the listing, there isn't much I will be able to do if a good candidate cannot legally work in the United States. Its going to be frustrating to have good people off limits, but that's the reality right now. When you walk around New York you see how the world could be without these barriers, diverse, active, exciting. If you take the subway from Manhattan out to Coney Island, you share the ride with people from every part of the world, hear many, many languages, its amazing. And then you're at the beach! andreg
It sounds very interesting! Right now I am starting to get sick and tired of my current employer. I am the only 3D artist in this place and I feel I am well underpaid for the quality and amount of work that I do here. I currently live in Huntingdon which is 10 minutes from the US border and about 1.5 hour away from NYC. What are the starting wages for a person with 15 years of experience in multimedia (Photoshop, AE, Flash, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, etc..)? For the last 6 of those 15 years I have been doing 3D viz full time for showroom design and trade show exhibits. I have been waiting for a raise for too long now from my current employer. I make about 33 000$(can) yearly when I know I can make around 50000$ If I go to Montreal, which is 1 hour away from here.

Ernest Burden III
I wish very much all the success for your new comany.. Sharif Thank you so much! Its not really a new company, just a more fun version of what I have now. I've spent too many years working by myself. I so look forward to working side-by-side with other artists in a creative environment. Occasionally I will work in a client's office to keep up with fast-changing projects like design competitions, and even though I'm not on my own turf, it's always a great experience because of the creative energy you get when people come together to make things none of them could make on their own. That's where we're going with this new studio.

Brian Cassil
Wow! Sounds great! I'm sure this will go well for you. If this were 5 years ago I'd throw my own hat in. If I get fired you'll be the first person I call. Good luck! I've spent too many years working by myself. I so look forward to working side-by-side with other artists in a creative environment. I spent the first 5 years of my career being the only renderer in an architectural office and that almost drove me insane, so I can relate to your wish to work with others. It has been so much more fun having a couple others to work along side with now.

Tommy L
Congrats and good luck. If this had happened six months ago Id have been dusting off the portfolio and polishing my best shoes. But Im running a 3d studio in Chicago now. If theres any option for collaboration, PM me. I love the melting pot approach.
Ernest Burden III
If I get fired you'll be the first person I call. Damaged goods come cheap, right? Thanks, everyone, for the encouragement, and I do wish more of my friends here were available. Without the constant 'virtual' companionship of everyone here I probably would have gone loco years ago. You're all studiomates, even though you may sit on the other side of the office.

Ernest Burden III
I want to go! Let me ditch the hubby and kids so I can be That Girl. Why ditch them? We have schools in New York, there's work for skills tradesmen like your husband, Boh. You'd have to learn that what qualifies as a 'bedroom' is subject to the opinion of the renting agent--no that isn't a closet. We could sure use a talent like you! anthony cortez
Very exciting news! Congrats Ernest and welcome to the neighborhood! If you can make it to our next 3d max users group meeting at the Pratt Center on 4/28, we're holding a 'career night'...I'm sure there will be lots of students and pro's on the lookout. Let us know when the housewarming party is, love to check out the new digs!
John Dollus
Congrats on the move, Ernest! Are you going to return to Park Slope again? Just remember, if there's a plumbing fixture in the room, it's not a bedroom. Best of luck with the new endeavor.
F J
sounds like a great opportunity! being part of such an environment would probably increase my learning curve tenfold unfortunately i know nothing about becoming eligible to work in the US.. Ernest Burden III
If you can make it to our next 3d max users group meeting at the Pratt Center on 4/28 Is that the Brooklyn campus or Manhattan? If you want to email me the info I'll see if I can make it. Are you going to return to Park Slope again? Just remember, if there's a plumbing fixture in the room, it's not a bedroom. You obviously lack imagination. My first apartment on my own was in Soho in the late 70's, and there most certainly was a plumbing fixture in what, for lack of any other possible explanation, was my bedroom. It was a whole shower, in fact. And I was lucky to have it. No, not back to Park Slope, sadly. I'm staying in my house north of NYC and will join the commuting public. being part of such an environment would probably increase my learning curve tenfold That's the best part. I fully expect to increase my learning, as well.
