mariano2cv
Is it possible to use the file link manager or similar for 3d max? If not, do tou know if there is any script. Please, let me know what options have I got to link a sketchup model to a 3ds max file. Thanks
Ray
I don't know of any direct link. But what I've done in the past is export to dwg, then file link that into viz (max.) When you update your sketchup model, just export it again as dwg--you can either use the same file name you did the first time and then update the file link, or tell the file link manager where to find the new file (click on the right side of the linked name and it should give you a small folder icon to go browse for new file.) mariano2cv
What is your metod to model in Sketchup?. Do you put each material in a diferent layer?. tkz
Ray
I don't really model in sketchup, but some of the architects here do. They were told to model everything on layer 0, then group items that would have the same material together and put that group on a layer named for that material. When I get the models I explode all of the groups and, if I recall correctly, everything migrates down to its former group layer name. Example: they model a floor that will be material 'carpet1' on layer 0. Then they group all of the 'carpet1' pieces together. They put that group on 'carpet1' layer. I explode that group and all of the 'carpet1' pieces end up on 'carpet1' layer.

fourthand11
Has anyone had any issues with the geometry that comes from Sketchup into Max? I have two max files that will corrupt at times after a max crash, different projects. Haven't had this problem with files not using sketchup geometry.
