Gizbo
Hi! I posted this at C4DCafe and a user there (thanks, mmVray!) recommended me to go here. I'll just copy and paste what I wrote there, if you don't mind: So well, I finally got myself a copy of C4D R10.5 Architecture Edition (R 10.506, for more info). I had high hopes for this, since FINALLY I was going to be able to open my .dwg (autocad) files without having to open them first in 3DS Max, save them as .3DS (with the problems this implies) and THEN opening them in C4D. However, when I finally open C4D R10.5 and choose to open an Autocad 2007 dwg file, this is the message I get: "Error reading file: the file is defective or the format version is not supported." And then "Unable to read file ...........* (my file's name)" Well, ######. I try the following thing though: I save the original Autocad 2007 .dwg file as an Autocad 2004 .dwg version (something Autocad allows you to do - many programs have trouble opening Autocad 2007 files). I re-open my C4D R10.5, pick the 2004 version .dwg and... I get "Unknown file format!" Oh boy! I really need this "opening .dwg" feature for my work! Any one knows a way round this? I then read here that there's a way round this, by saving the 2007 .dwg as a R12 .dxf file, but that's NOT GOOD, because when I open this in Cinema, I get a MESS of a thing with all my buildings just crammed and really really messed around. So... any tips? Please! I'm really desperate over here
gdrakakis
that's strange. dwg import supports r13-2008 .dwg files. did you close the autocad scene before importing? "Note that the AutoCAD scene to be imported must be closed before importing to CINEMA 4D." hth, george
