SandmanNinja
Maybe a newbie section, where people that are either new or not-so-skilled-but-want-to-improve can feel more comfortable posting their WIPs for critique. The comments there would not be molly-coddling, but perhaps more suggestive and perhaps include more detailed instructions. I know I cringe when I post (when I do post) a WIP when it's next to people's photorealistic renders.
kailyon
Ninja- I agree, I think I might actually be tempted to try and create something for posting (instead of saving every partially done scene because it looks NOTHING like anything I've seen in the WIP forum and would get smashed if I posted it) if I knew I could put it somewhere like what you are suggesting It's nice to feel like you are not the only noob. Putting aside the "Newbie forum" wheater you think its good or not (theres no harm in having one IMO) I dont think you would get "smashed" posting your work here. Ive seen a lot of images that could get some heavy tweaking (and they did with the help of CGA members) on this forum all around. Post your work freely without hesitation and watch CGA help you evolve

SandmanNinja
Maybe it's a self-conscious thing. But I have to admit, I've gotten a lot of constructive, positive feedback on my first exterior scene.
ajeno1@btinternet.com
I'm a newbie to this, trying to get myself into the cg architecture world. Posting images that I've produced sounds like a GREAT idea. Maybe someone will notice me. I've even thought I've putting up a website, but I'm a tadd scared someone will think I'm a boff in all this and expect too much, making me out to look a numpty! Claudio Branch
I know that the intent of the Man of the Sand is nothing but altruistic, but tough comments are neccesary if you want to improve and stand a chance of getting work in a very competitive field with shrinking opportunities for even the highly-skilled. Stop worrying about being a Noob and just start producing work. Who cares if it sucks? If you have what it takes, it will show in time. NOW POST SOMETHING... kbotnen
I agree that it should not be necessary with a "n00b" part. Compared to someone that is better and more experienced everyone is n00b You should not be afraid to post as long as you take advices/constructive critique and implement them in your later works But I have seen other CG forums with a "Test" category intended for smaller tests, maybe first time renderings etc. Things that the poster not necessary is going to "finish". Leaving the WIP thread to pictures and projects thats most probably will evolve and result in new version and posting of same picture. If this is a good idea for CGA I dont know. -K-
