Elliot
Hello At the office we decided to join the REVIT wave. We just got started and I am trying to learn it without taking a class. It is definitely very interesting. I have a question, how can I assign colors to the different walls. Second question, in the floor plan mode I can not see my ducts and pipes, how do I make them show up? Thanks Elliot
mbowers
Elliot, Assigning different wall colors and styles is found under Settings-->Object Styles. To answer you next questions...Ducting and pipes are typically overhead and would be better seen on a ceiling plan. If you want them to appear dashed then you would can change your view range and draw in dashed lines. Good luck with Revit!
Elliot
Matt Thank you very much for your response. I am just starting and I am trying to fly without reading the instructions or taking a class. I am finding it very interesting. I already did a small model with HVAC and I am finding this program very interesting. Thanks Elliot
Elliot
Question to Revit experts. When I place my model on 3D, my model comes in a light grey color. I want to colorize. It is difficult on this 3D mode to distinguish details if everything is a light grey color. How do I make it show in colors...? mbowers
Elliot, You can control the appearance of color or texture under the object properties. Say for instance, if it's a wall, then you would go to the structure of that wall, and under each instance of material, you can assign a different color or pattern. This can be a very tedious process which is why most of the standard walls come in as being grey initially..and as you move forward you can assign color and texture. I understand what you mean about learning without books, but if i were you i would scour the help files that come with Revit. HTH Matt
Elliot
Matt Thanks... I will try to understand what you explained to me.... Hi Hi hi I have been around for a while.... Before Lightscape. I also use SolidWORKS and VIZ and many other softwares but this REVIT is different. It is difficult for a guy that came to America with Christopher to seat down and learn new commands and Icons. I went to the store and purchased about $200.00 worth of books but I don't understand them. At the office we are going to take the class, but I am trying to fly before learning how to walk....Hi hi hi Thanks Elliot
jonrempel
Are you using Revit Architecture or Revit MEP? It sounds like MEP. In your 3D view, right click and open the view properties menu. Change your discipline to Architectural and your building model will show up better.
