Koper
Is there no way one can do this? I just kant seem to find any info on this or any way of parameter wiring it? it is also not kept for scene states. anyone have an idea or input on this
shaneis
I suppose you could render at a larger size and then animate the cropping/ letter-box in post. Say you wanted an A4 portrait to turn to A4 landscape over time, then render a square res (eg a 4K square, 4096 x 4096), dump the frames into something like After Effects and add your letter box stripes to the sides, then transform those to disappear while having the top/ bottom letter box stripes appear... if you get what I mean
Koper
thanx, but in a production house that won't work, we set many frames and render specifics to each frame. rendering with longer times than what is necessary will cost allot of money also. maybe this should be added to the the max wish list. it would just be much more comfortable to animate aspect ratio than to set 2 different files and then have to assign renders more than once. BrianKitts
Are you actually trying to "animate" between different settings? or are you just trying to find away to jump back an forth between setups? When you save a render preset it will hold your aspect ratio. Then if you use the batch render dialogue you can set each camera to a specific render preset, thus allowing you to swap between different settings. Koper
yup, trying to animate the aspect ratio from frame to frame. I am looking for the visual feedback while jumping between frames, but i guess it can't be done. If there was only a setting to let max know that I'm using the time line on a shot per frame bases, instead of the frames being for sequence for animation. thanx anyhoo
SandmanNinja
Hmmm... When doing my MaxScript tutorials, I read that (paraphrase) "anything that you can do with a mouse can be done in max script". I'm at work now, but I'd be happy to check when I get off work. I wonder if what you're after is too 'embedded' in the actual creation-of-render process rather than 'scene' process (if that makes sense).
