Crazy Homeless Guy
You really are not providing a lot of information about what you are doing, especially considering that you are asking that people send their work to you. Not a link to more information about the project. Not an agreement on how the copyright and credits will be handled on the artwork submitted. I think a lot of people would jump to have their work published, but I doubt you are going to get talented people int he industry to submit to you. They are business people, and need to know how their work is going to be handled.
foxwj2006
ok. i agree. all artwork submitted will be handled with great care in reation to piracy and copyright infringments. All artwork with be credited to the artist and will not be used in any other form other than the pages within the novel. all promotion material will be dealt with separetly. basically what i am after is what is submitted to 3d world magazine on a montly basis. i am in the process of getting legal documention set up so anyones rights are not infrigned upon. own1221
" To Date I Have 30% Of The Content I Require And Would Appreciate Posts Or Emails From Budding Artists For Support." - could you share some of these? or is the compilation only on paper i.e. $$ to get access or is it going to be online? Horhe
Well its definetaly still not clear. Are you going to make a profit out of this? Are you the only one doing this compilation? Or is someone helping you with it? Are you going to sell the book? Or is it free for download? How much will it cost? Have you done this before? What do you do for a living? Why did you come up with such an idea? What criteria are you looking for in submited works? Who is this book aimed for? What marketing do you have? Are you sure it will sell? How much exposure do you think an cg artist could recieve once included in you compilation? How many hardcopy prints are you planning on making? Or do you own a press? Loan one perphaps? Are you going to print out all the copies your planning to at once? Or will you keep on printing while the supplies last? No offence but Im wondering if this isnt just a shot to make some money. Dont get me wrong - but everyone could just post asking for work in return for exposure. In order to get works of high end Cg artists unfortunately youve got to be known/well marketed. Take Expose for instance. They have a huge society there, the judges that pick the work are demanding and have an appropriate education or portfolio. There its an honour to be chosen because one knows its not that easy to pass to the finals and adding to that lot of great work flows in. Anyway I wish you best of luck. foxwj2006
ok to answer a few of the questions. The book is aimed at all within the cg community. games, movies, architecture. Personally i have an architectural background and have been working for several architects producing high end 3d within australia. the main focus of the book is the call for inspiration and will depict not only a showcase of cg art now but cg background and history of where cg has come from over the last 20 odd years. this is something that i have been working on for some time due to the fact that one day i was working on a internal scene for a hotel and wanted some ideas. the question came where do i obtain such ideas. form a main stream point of view i do not believe that there is enough good available material out there to refference other than blogs, posts or the like. so i have been working on this refference guide. it started out just as a personal refference but the more i have added to it the more it has become something the i think the world of cg would find useful. AJLynn
I think what the guys are looking for is a sense that this is a legit project - not meaning any offense, but we don't know who you are, and you're asking that people turn over work to you. It's not like when a well known publisher puts out a call for works for a compilation, where people know what to expect. Do you have a publisher? Any previous published works? alias_marks
It's great that you're willing to do this and am interested in submitting, but I agree with the above comments. It would be great to set up a website or something that helps explain the project a bit more and answers a lot of the questions horhe suggested in more detail. Anyhow, good luck.
