some outstanding work

It almost doesn't matter - there are a few options to get quality like that when you've got knowhow. Vray, mental ray, maybe finalRender, the animation itself isn't very technically complicated so what you need is something with good GI, a good materials setup and the ability to save out lighting calculations. Things like the writing on the mirror and the paper that flutters can be added in post. A Zdepth pass would handle the DOF in post. Most of the thought has been put into the lighting, composition and to a degree, materials.

Thanks Kunstraum

I was under the impression all your stuff was done with Maxwell.

This gives me renewed faith in the power of Vray. If only I knew how to get it to that quality.

All the work you guys are doing is outstanding, honestly the best I have seen.

Very nice work. My only point would be that it helps a great deal to have very high specification designs and finishes to work with, which always reflects well on the finished product. If these guys worked on a data storage unit on an industrial estate I think they'd be boxing in the same ring as the rest of us. I am not, however, detracting from the quality of the work though. Very good. To quote my colleague on some of the designs we work with, its like putting lipstick on a gorilla!

very nicely done.......great texture work and attention to detail.

I love it when clients are happy to have detailed shots instead of trying to show every element of the development all in the same image.

great caustics.......and chamfering

the more I look at it the more I like it

nice one

technically very nice work.

i'd be interested to know if this is for a client, and if so, what your brief was.

i think i'm going to send them an e-mail, maybe they could join this forum and share some stuff ?

Thanks again for the very nice feedback so far. We really appreciate it.

Thanks also again to the whole team which worked on it (benjamin brosdau, marcus dallmann, benny herudek and especially klemens neumann)

To answer the question of our honoured colleague from London.

No, this is an internal project. As every other company in that business we

have the situation that "real life project" have often a different momentum and often less possibilities. Although we try with every piece of work to push the maximum to the limit. This is the passion we have and the reason we want to work in that field. All other images on the website (except of 2) and the rest of the animation are clients work. With "the renaissance" we wanted to summarize all we believe in and wand to stand for in our profesion: the sensuality of architecture. Personally I am a trained Architect, but with absolute no talent for construction. But with an eye for moods. Therefore I started this office. This animation is somehow also a little bit of a manifesto of what I want in our business, still knowing that reality is often different....but not less interesting.

This room is beautiful. Modeling, lighting, and materials are excellent! My main critique would have to be the camera work. I'm not sure what it is, but there is something a little stiff and awkward about the movements. IMHO the cameras need a pinch more sensuality.

Also, the sound track is a little sad and serious. It's as if the storyline was about a distant memory. If this piece is truly a manifesto, then I think all the parts should work together to deliver a clear message. I wish I knew what is written on the mirror. Maybe it could help me to understand it better. But regardless, this is really amazing work. Congrats!!!
