chow choppe
need help regarding a displacement map i saw an image from arroway textures and the stone wall has a very nice displacement map in which the edges have stones and is not showing as a straight line but when i apply a displacement map to my stone wall the displacement on the faces is fine but where the faces are meeting i am getting a black edge how can i correctly make the displacement map for this so that i have stone continuity along the edges and not avertical edge. Also i face problem while making displacement for grass the grass looks awesome but border of the glass onject behaves weirdly and i see black along the edge
BrianKitts
try the search function.... this question has been asked a couple of times before http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/28086-displacement-problem.html
whitetr
make sure "Keep Continuity: is checked in the displacement modifier. For grass, use 2D displacement.
cdgsean
In the VrayDisplacementMod keep the type to 2D, and make sure the "Shift" amount is a negative equal to 1/2 the "Amount".

Dave Oliver
i have had good luck chamfering the edge of the wall a couple times. depending on your uvw mapping you still have to get the texture to line up, but on a stone wall it gives a smoother transition
