Hi,

I have to make some animation for display in movie theater. To make animation look full screen( Usually movie theater has got wide screens, cinemascope ). What resolution I have to keep & also what pixel aspect ratio??

When I am using preset of AE i.e. Film(2K) it gives me vertical kind of look( 4:3) may be it is for 35 mm film..!

But what if we have to make for cinemascope.. On what res. I have to give it to RTC.??

Visual effects firms generally build effects at 2048 x 1356, there are different sizes and shapes (sometimes 2048 x 1556), this is all assuming that you are outputting back to 35mm film. If this is the case then you should talk to the facility that is going to do the film transfer, if not then you should discuss whomever is running the event as to the display method. You need to know the size, bit depth, color specifications and format. Generally when working with files that are going back to film a LUT(look up table) is used that helps to ensure that color is represented correctly when exposing the film.

Hope this helps

i'm sure this changes per studio but i've heard that the top firms implement the 4K (4096x2048) standard. for example, with transformers...it took a ridiculous 35 hours per frame to render...that's how they get that perfect translation to standard dvd without all the aliased side effects like flickering and swimming. every pixel is set at near perfect color.
