ikinman
I just received my second spam this week from the Chinese rendering firm 'WeRock3DRendering.' I have to give them the prize for the silliest name for a visualization company that I have ever run across. And there's more. From their website ( http://www.werock3drendering.com ): Our goal is to glorify God in our work by: . Striving for excellence in the quality of our product . Striving for one-hundred percent client satisfaction There's something charmingly medieval about artists dedicating their work to the glory of God. I can hear the Gregorian chanting in the studio as I type this... -Ian
alrawli
I thought everyone did 3D for the glory of god! Its why i got into it.

AJLynn
I've seen 3D that rocks harder, but this certainly glorifies God.
Sawyer
I love the heavy metal letters. Unfortunately I read their logo as "we 3d rock". Seems kind of cultist "Look forward to your joining in..."
Devin Johnston
I've received two e-mails from then in the last two weeks, it's very annoying and their use of English is goofy. "Werock3drendering is a team of giant experience in 3D architectural graphics field, we would like to offer you architectural presentation services including interior and exterior renderings, 3D animation and 2D colored plan in timely, cost-effective delivery." aaron-cds
There's something charmingly medieval about artists dedicating their work to the glory of God. Pixels for the Lord! I said it first if there's any royalty checks coming for the t-shirts and bumper stickers. I got my second spam from them today as well. It so sad that they don't actually rock. They kind of got my hopes up when I saw that bodacious company name. Or are we using "rad" now?
jackb602
Wait, if they work for the glory of God, does that mean we don't have to pay them anything?
aaron-cds
Wait, if they work for the glory of God, does that mean we don't have to pay them anything? They barely charge anything for the renderings anyway Can you do renderings for the glory of God with pirated software?
ikinman
Can you do renderings for the glory of God with pirated software? Certainly, if God is a pirate... -Ian
Chad Warner
That would certainly be an interesting way to think of God......
ikinman
Another fun way to think of God, which would be more appropriate to those happy and pious folk at WeRock3D, is the Michelle Shocked song from 20 years ago, 'God is a Real Estate Developer.' With Offices around the nation They say one day he'll liquidate His holdings up on High I say it's all speculation He may be an absentee landlord This may be a low rent universe The roof may need repairs But at least the floor is there And the rent is not due 'til the first... If God is a Real Estate Developer, and not a pirate, then that makes us all doing our work for the glory of God. Certainly our clients think so.. -Ian

Inxa
I think the most common one is diamond graphics. They sent 19 mb images last week. Can some of the good guys from China in here, ask them to stop flooding our email boxes. I remember sometime Jeff, if I am not wrong had started a thread for similar flooding. He wrote a reply as well, don't know what happened. I am not blaming or accusing the chinese industry, please do not take me the wrong way. It's only some companies that keep sending their portfolio images of 19 mb again and again. I am sure this spoils the name more. In Europe these portfolio emails or introduction emails are sent directly to spam or trash, is it true. Can someone solve this.
EddieLeon
Yes. The spam is extremely annoying. But, I think they deserve lots of credit for their entrepreneurial spirit. Just give them a couple more years to figure out how to market properly to Western clients. We might then be the ones sending funny sounding emails overseas
IC
Slightly OT but this reminded me of a ZBrush clone that came on the scene a few months ago called 3DCoat. It was initially called 3DBrush, I think. Anyway, it was ridiculously cheap and very feature rich so a lot of people took to it right away. Then they read the small print which insisted that the program shouldn't be used for craeting anything violent or sexual in nature. It went on to say that the developer couldn't actually enforce this but that God would judge you and even reminded you that thinking about adultery was actually adultery. Apart from giving me a good laugh, the main effect this inappropriate bible bashing had on me was an immediate desire to delete the demo from my hard drive. shaneis
Can someone solve this. You should be able to block email addresses through your ISP, provided they have some form of spam filtering in place.

shaneis
I'm a fan of Jeff's idea to create a 3D blacklist for spam filters... if only I knew who to incorporate such a great idea. Greylisting! In effect, you have a list of known "safe" email addresses from clients, suppliers, family and so-on... your whitelist. To this, you have a blacklist of known bad addresses. In the middle is your "greylist" which denies the first delivery from unknown addresses with a request to resend in a set time period. Idea being that spam servers/ spambots won't try again. So, new clients etc can be manually added to the whitelist, previously known bad addresses to the blacklist, and the greylist can assign new addresses to either the black or white lists. The black/ white lists can be stored on a server (eg. CGA industry greylist) and you can link your mail server to update your listings from there. EddieLeon
Here is an interesting fact. The person that owns "WeRock3drendering.com" also owns "speedy3dstudio.com". His name is Han Bao Hua and he's based in Shanghai. I wouldn't be surprised if he also owns a few of the other companies that send us spam. From a business perspective, I think it's pretty dumb to spend time and money building different brands that sell the exact same product. But, on the other hand, it seems that there are a lot of western clients that keep taking his bait. I'm guessing that it's the small architecture firms that like the ultra-cheap quick renderings. I understand that this lower-end market seems like a joke to most of us. But, if you consider "The Long Tail Theory" this market is probably quite larger and shouldn't be ignored
