phix95
Instead of x y z, the gizmo would be aligned to a face for example. I've done it before and cannot remember how.
jsf
1. Set your object snap to "pivot" and "endpoint" 2. Select your object. 3. Go to the Hierarchy tab in the command panel and select "Affect Pivot Only". 4. Move the pivot/gizmo to where you want it. (Turning the axis constraint on may help you with the alignment) 5. Exit the pivot command. 6. You're done.
phix95
Actually it was something else. I think it was accessable through a shortcut. You press a key and the x, y, and z aligned to the object instead of the environment. Ooo I found it. It's on the top toolbar right by the scale button. There's a dropdown menu that defaults to View. You can change it there.
jsf
The pulldown list next to the scale button refers to the Reference Coordinate System. Glad you found what you were looking for.
