Eric
Hello all! I can't for the life of me remember where I saw this, but it seems like I read an article (obviously without paying too close attention) the other day about a way to export 3D models to the XBox or Playstation, can't remember which. Anyone read this? Can anyone tell me where to find this article? It was just a couple/few days ago I think. Thanks, Eric
Ernest Burden III
a way to export 3D models to the XBox or PlaystationI am not a gamer, so this isn't an area I know well. But have a look at Ultimate UnWrap3D . The program exports to a huge number of game formats. I had bought it for UV work, but clearly the author is a gaming nut. The only game I would want to write to would be Tony Halk Pro Skater--which UU doesn't support.
Eric
Thanks for the link. I am an avid first-person-shooter gamer (of the realistic/war type). I was actually looking at the export ability for interactive client presentations though. This type of presentation (depending on the level of detail and speed a model can be transposed to the gaming format from the typical presentation/printing format, and the lighting ability) would be great for any client presentations. Anyway, thanks for the link!
Ray
Eric, I haven't tried it yet, but I read on Discreet's website about using games such as Quake 3 for realtime architectural visualization. Check the Gmax section of their website also. From one FPS'er to another--good luck!
tcorbett
I'm a big fan of Director MX. You need to do a little coding, but you can get your MAX/VIZ (and i think form-z) models direcly into Shockwave 3D format, complete with textures. Nice flexible level of control, and consistent delivery, even over the web.
Dave Buchhofer
Theres a few alternatives for this sort of thing.. depending on how much interactivity you want to add.. in varying levels.. Quest3d, no licencing fee's, 90-2000 for the development platform.. Virtools, free web delivery, fee's on cdrom delivery ( ) 5k dev platform.. Cult3d, never replied to my email about pricing !! free dev platform.. Viewpoint, same as cult3d.. Theres a ton more, but those are the ones i know of or have used Currently using Virtools, but doing more by way of interactive sales tools and small games then arch stuff in it so far..
