aaron-cds
In previous versions of Max I've been able to select region or crop from the pull down menu (blue arrow), select the region area in the viewport then render in the vray frame buffer. In Max 2009 this pull down menu is gone. So I have to open the rendered frame window (red arrow) in max, click the edit region button, minimize the rendered frame window then hit F9 to render in the vrayframe buffer. Has anyone found a way to get the pull down menu back or avoid opening the rendered frame window?
AJLynn
It's also there in the F10 render window. Pretty annoying. I like what they've done with the frame buffer for mental ray but I don't see why they'd drop that. I think the change is in the DefaultUI in the Custom UI And Defaults. I think if you want "Classic" Max you can switch the options to Max and ModularToolbarsUI. I say "I think" because I haven't spent enough time with it to identify the changes. aaron-cds
ah, I was looking under the 'r's in the customize menu. I also found it in the menu when I right click on the viewport name in the upper left corner of the viewport.

AJLynn
Another one: Anybody know how to make it so "Use Real World Map Scale" is not on by default in either the maps or the UVW Map modifier?
aaron-cds
If you go to the custom UI and defaults switcher and change the initial settings for tool options to Max or Max.Vray the real world scale won't be activated for the material or the uvw settings. Ray
There's also a check box in Preferences>General>Texture Coordinates that you can uncheck.
