blowback
Hello everyone, I am having some problems with max and lrg format renders. 6500 pix and up. How are you guys doing this without crashes. when It's going for billboard size. I have a 64 bit machine with max 2008 and vray 1.5 sp1 I proxy all my 3d trees and cars, and I try and keep my bitmaps to no larger that 1024.....most 512. How is everyone else dealing with large sizes, or am I doing something wrong? Getting stressed, deadlines breathing down my neck and my computer is not playing nice. any advice will be much appreciated.

BrianKitts
I figured when you mentioned proxies.... but now that MR has em, had to check.... anyhoo my original thought is you didn't mention vrimg. Have you tried rendering to file yet?
Crazy Homeless Guy
....and how much RAM do you have?
blowback
hey, thanks you guys... Ram 8GB I have tried the vrimg it works sometimes but when I add render elemnts...z-depth, reflection...crasho + I have a hard / impossible time extracting that info....I tried the exr pro plug-in for photoshop. That worked awsome.....but work won't spring for it.....extracting these elements is another discuss. lol It is rendering now @ 4500 (vrimg) but anything larger...crasho and I am just rendering rgb + alpha.....I gotta have something tomorow or the clients gonna freak....I'm gonna freak and smash this computer... Crazy Homeless Guy
if you watch your task manager, does the ram climb to about the same point ever time before the crash? also, what is your dynamic memory, and default geometry set to in the Vray system roll out? ...and you did instance the proxied trees when you placed them around the site? very important. vizwhiz
There was a way To plot 1/4 sections of The render and Then plop Them Together in FotoChop Then Later is That still a possible Technique ????
dbibb
What are your settings for the Dynamic Memory Limit under V-Ray:: System? If you have 8g of ram, try setting it to 7000 MB Static. Proxies and displacement use the dynamic memory limit, even if the default geometry is set to static.
shaneis
There is a maxScript at Master Zap's site... http://mentalraytips.blogspot.com/ It will break-up the render into smaller sections so you can compile them in post. Can't give you any more details 'cause the site is down at the moment. :|
blowback
Travis, yep it bottomed out at 3800 to 4200 (3 diffrent tests) all proxies are instanced Derik I am going to try that. Shane, I will aslo try that.
