How do I add Vray materials into Vray?

Hello,

 

I'm an interior design student trying to dig into Vray for better visualization results.

 

I've got Vray and I've also downloaded a few 'Vray materials' off the net.

 

Thing is, I'm not particularily sure if the way I'm inserting them into my material editor is the correct way?

 

 

 

 

Please tell me how I insert a vray .mat material into my material editor/scene.

 

 

 

At the moment, I press 'M' for material editor, then 'Get Material', and from 'Mtl Library' I choose 'Open' and find my material file. But often when I open it, it contains a lot of files inside...

btw, this is for 3D Studio max

switch on Root only at this stage - it should then show only the material without all the sub headings
