danb4026
Can you use backburner on single machine or is it just for networked computers?
SandmanNinja
Well, the purpose of backburner is to share the workload of a large render. You can't really share with the same computer....
danb4026
Thats what I thought. But I saw a post advising someone with a single machine to use backburner. So I figured I woul ask.
BrianKitts
Yes backburner is for network rendering..... but there's no reason why you can't use it with only one computer on the network being your own system. I use backburner all the time to queue up jobs to render overnight. As I'm working throughout the day I'll just send off network jobs to the backburner manager even though there might not be any available render nodes. After a full day of work and 5-6 renders in the queue when I leave at night, flip on server on your own system and away they go. Nice easy way to keep track of your renderings as well when you come in and check the monitor to have a full list of current working renderings and a timed recording of how long each scene/render takes.
