Photomodeler

Recommended Posts

I use PhotoModeler (v5), ImageModeler, SketchUp and Canoma for photogrammetry.

Both PM and IM can be very accurate, while SU and Canoma are much faster. I mostly use IM for accurate work, and for modelling on top of photos, because PM doesn't have the same modelling functions (may have improved in the newest version v6?). Even though IM is quite clunky and buggy it hasn't been updated for years. For quick work on architecture SketchUps Photomatch actually works very well, although it is more of a manual approach.Canoma was a great program too for quick work, but was bought and killed by Adobe years ago :(

In those images you linked to the main work was probably done in Maya rather than PM. I would never have attempted doing such detailed work inside neither PM nor IM. For getting the right proportions, dimensions and camera positions it works great though.

PM is coming in a new version now, Photomodeller Scanner, that looks very interesting. I have no idea if it works OK, but it looks like a much more automated process, ending up with hipoly objects.
