Eric Sosa
hey everyone. I have searched for this issue in the forums but couldn't find the rigth thread, although remember having seeing it posted before....opps black reflections from a ligth material!!?? vray 1.5 RC3 I suppose it's an easy way out.....just can't find out what it is our costumers give a damm about the reflections ...but there are driving me crasy the visu?..one of those 10.0 hrs. projects we make everyday .... regards Eric
Horhe
Black reflections? Where? All I can think of is that your glass has a refraction/opacity value that is a bit too high. Or did I not get the question right? Edited May 8, 2008 by Horhe
Eric Sosa
hehe wrong formulated... the "very clean" mall floor refracts the displays ligth mat as black, comprendes? the displays are behind the shop window glass....does it matter? edit: the floor mat refraction is 250 (black) Edited May 8, 2008 by Eric Sosa
Horhe
Did you try hiding the glass and rendering it then? What material do the props have assigned?
Eric Sosa
shop window glass hidden..it helps, but, still the displays dark refraction is there on the shinny floor. the diplays have a default vray mat (some ligth RAL colour) with no reflections or refractions. thx Jakub for your help
Horhe
Check under vray enviroment settings if you have a black color overide in the reflection slot. Try to render a test with the floor reflecting 100%. Im assuming youve got a fresnel or perpendicular/parrallel falloff in the refl slot? It should be acting like a mirror then thus reflecting it 100 and white as it is (at a glancing angle). And its all about reflection not refraction. Refraction is when light passes and bends in a surface due to changes in material density. Reflection is just for reflection Glad to help. Eric Sosa
like a mirror...as you can see the display mat "reflection" on the floor is rigth. no colour override on the enviroment reflection slot. I get a nicer reflection by using 4.0 on the IOR refraction slot on the floor material, if I put it in 1.6, for example, the reflection gets minimised and it's hardly seeing. humm.....still not a satisfying result I know there is a silly thing somewhere ....but where the hell is it!!!! grrr EDIT: if I put the window glass back ...it get WORST! Ismael
Maybe post a picture of the floor material. Or I'll guess a color in the reflection slot other than grayscale, Maxdepht, and we'll see what else.
