import autocad what happens to xref objects?

hi, i imported an autocad file, and it needed a component that was xrefed in another autocad file (i have 3 separate dwg files).

 

anyway, in my max scene, it shows up with a name of XRef:xfloor unit 1 and it's a VIZBlock.

 

so is this actually an object my max file so i could move the file anywhere and not have to worry about referring back to the xref'd file?

 

i've read through the help files in max, and i think they are talking about something different (xref'ing objects in a scene as opposed to importing them)?
