P Zero
I'm working on a scene at work and I dont have Vray available to me. So I'm having to use the scanline renderer and at the same time learn how to use the light tracer. When I render, there are wierd, random bands of shadow across the image. What can I do to prevent these from appearing?
Horhe
Can you post a bigger render - meaning one that shows more of the scene? Have you got only a skylight? Any additional lights? Ps. Looks like a problem of overlaping faces to me and not an issue with light tracer.. Edited May 9, 2008 by Horhe
P Zero
Hi there, sorry I didnt reply sooner. I have rendered another part of the scene. I cant show too much of it because its a government project. As you can see, there is a lot of nasty shadows in the background which is very similar no matter what angle or distance I render from. In the scene I have one skylight and one target direct, so the whole scene is lit evenly. There is no reason for random shadowness to show up like that. Any ideas? arkiedmund
did you check your mesh for the ground model sir? I think, that's causing the trouble...but not really sure...maybe you can post a screen cap showing the wireframe. Hope this helps...
SandmanNinja
I usually get weird renders if I have a mesh error
P Zero
I'm pretty sure there are no errors with my terrain mesh. I tried creating a plane in its place and when I rendered that, the same shadows resulted. I'm really stuck on this
SandmanNinja
Can you post a BAR (*Big Ass Render), or maybe even the 3DS Max file? Are you using DISPLACEMENT as well as BMP? If so, maybe turn down the displacement value. Try 2 or 3.
P Zero
I wasnt using anything other than very simple meshes and standard materials with only the diffuse colour changed. Unfortunately I cant post anything more than what I have already, I'm not really allowed. I've given up on it for now. I have a deadline today so I've switched to Mental Ray for the moment. Thanks for the help though, I will continue this another day
