what is IES lights

hi friends

any one know about IES light in v-ray ..?,how can i activate IES lights..? ,

In my Autodesk 3ds MAX 2008 32 bit i could't use photometric lights in vray rendering but in previous version (Max 8) i can use photometric light with v-ray .why it is happening ...

 

Is this IES lights are a modified version of photometric light ...?

 

any one know about this please help me

ies lights are real light values supplied by the light manufacturers themselves.. you can use the web option in photometric lights and then select the IES values that you like .it does work in vray and its not a problem at all

If you want have some fun with IES lights, go the website http://www.lithonia.com. Ther go to resource and IES lights. There you'll see photometric data files. IES lights are real world physical lights properties. IES and photometric are the same. Good luck

Remember, though: Nothing is going to kill your rendertimes like IES....
