PAWUK
4h Mental Ray render any coments on the lighting or GI would be much Appreciated Thanks You might want to have a rethink on your wall and ceiling mats looks way to much like raw concreate, the ceiling hung plasma would more likely be wall mounted, the wine bottle looks to big. as you say lighting needs abit of work...use vray myself but others here more likely to give you advise on that one ...Keep going it will improve . Thanks yeah I was going for an industrial sort of feel for the room with the concrete wall finish, tv yeah I might re think and hang from the wall. The programs I use were 3ds max 2008 and mental ray Thanks for the comments Edited May 14, 2008 by craigball
Tay othman
Great Work...Need A little Bit of :- 1-Use Architecture and design shaders ..... Really Great 2-The overall GI needs a Bit of Keylight effect 3-Increase the Antialiasing Values 4-The Wine Bottle needs to have a Transparency and a Highlight effect to be merged in the surroundings 5-Reflection for the lamp and the table should be more Blurry 6-use ambient occusion to bring up details of fine edges Waiting for your final image
jreben
nice job so far. 1. I agree with other comments so far. 2. very unlikely they'd go through the trouble of mounting recessed cans in the slab. they would probably be surface mounted so you'd see more of the fixture and probably some sort of conduits to wire them all together and to the switch. Another way they might do it is with a dropped GWB ceiling, but it's not quite as industrial as you're going for right? 3. Plants are a nice touch, but the red ones I beleive are a Japanese maple shrunk down a lot? Anyway they would need to be outdoors to live, but this is really picky, sorry. The one in the foreground gets lost against the red couch, too. 4. i like your lamp, but the chrome shade looks wrong somehow. almost like it's round, but I getting the look of a flat mirror...maybe just me. Can't give advise for MR, but as others said, the quality/AA should be improved. Keep up the good work, hope to see updates. Best regards, JR

Tay othman
Key Light effects is to give directionality for the most dominant light. Such as a light which is stronger than others .. it will break the unifomity of the scene. Hope to see a great finished work Regards

Tay othman
No the key light is a Concept...not a tool or command. ie. for exteriors the sun is a key light. and the sky is a fill & Back lights. the key light is a dominant element in a lighting design cheers
craigball
Can any one help me a have been working on my room model and when I came to work on the model today I got (FILE OPEN FAILED) and now the file wont open? Also I don’t have any auto back up files saved. Can any one help I can email the file out if needs be, I have also tried to merge the file it to a new one and that didn’t work. Please tell me I haven’t lost that for good. PS my latest render any comments? Cheers Edited May 19, 2008 by craigball
jreben
I had a similar problem once. I had to start a new file and merge the old one in, but only one object at a time! Eventually, I found out which object was causing the corruption and merged everything except that, into the new scene. for the latest image, still seems a bit dull/washed-out looking. The shadow beneath/behind the wall mounted TV is weird. The window frames lack detail and the settings still overall look a bit low, but I don't MR so can't suggest on it. Mostly the same comments I wrote before. Good luck rescuing the file.
