Michael J. Brown
I've been reading things about proxy objects (Vray) and how their use can really make scene navigation easier when working on large and complex scenes. Can proxies be done in Max 2008? If so, can anyone point me to a tutorial on how to create proxies? I can't find anything in the Max help or on Autodesk AREA to assist me here. Probably because it's such a simple thing to do. Except that nothing seems simple when you simply don't know how to do it.

Scott Dombrowski
Mental Ray proxies were just released in Max 2009. Check out Zap's blog entry on them. I'd post a linky link, but I need a few more posts, so go to mentalraytips dot blogspot dot com. And get a fresh cup o' joe because you're in for a lot of good reading. Edit: Yeah, what Brian said. Edited May 15, 2008 by nauticus27 Was a bit slow on the draw, Brian beat me to it.
